university of oxford
description
we are seeking a full-time postdoctoral research assistant in nanospectroscopy to join prof. jin-chong tan's group (multifunctional materials & composites laboratory: https: // eng.ox.ac.uk/mmclab/) in the department of engineering science at oxford. the post is funded by the erc consolidator grant “promofs” and is fixed-term for 18 months and available immediately.
the research will focus on the application of scattering-type scanning nearfield optical microscopy (s-snom) to study nanoscale framework materials and composite structures engineered for photonics, sensors, and energy harvesters. nanoanalytical techniques employed will encompass a combination of tip force microscopy (tfm) and nano-fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy (nanoftir).
you should hold a phd/dphil (or close to completion) in materials engineering / materials science / spectroscopy, or related subjects. the applicant must be able to demonstrate a high level of competence in the application of s-snom, nanoftir, and nearfield nanoanalytical methods such as tfm.
